Orienta las letras a la poesía épica, narrando normalmente hechos gloriosos de grandes héroes. También se pueden basar en la mitología, o en obras de autores de fantasía y ciencia ficción. Uno de los más utilizados como inspiración es Tolkien. músicalmente, las canciones de este género suelen ser más largas de la media y aunar momentos de gran velocidad con voces desgarradas y melancólicas.
